Day 2 - Beaver, UT - Part Two

We are planning on stopping in Cedar City, Utah for the night. My mom is exhausted already and that isn't a good sign. She perks up when she sees that Cedar City has a Chili's. She loves their Presidente Margarita.

Pulling in, we can't help but notice how busy this little town is today. It is Sunday afternoon and this Chili's is PACKED.

But we get to park in front. (BOOM! That just happened!)

We successfully get my Mom out of the car and into her chair. I go ahead to get out name in. The hostess is running back and forth trying to help everyone while also bussing tables. I feel bad for her. She's all alone with this and nobody is helping her.

After about 15 minutes (Sunday. 3:00 p.m. WTF?), we finally get seated. The Presidente Margarita can't get here fast enough for her. (I'm having water). It was the perfect meal and I can see my mom's energy return.

I start calling the local hotels to see if we can book our rooms. I call the Holiday Inn Express first. They politely inform me that they are sold out. I call the next highest rated place on Yelp. They too are sold out. I ask the Guest Services employee if the all of Cedar City is going to be sold out and he confirms that is the case.

We are going to have to move on.

It takes Jack and I a while to figure it out. Cedar City is sold out because of the solar eclipse today. Cedar City is one of the places in Utah where people can see the "Ring of Fire" when they view the eclipse.

The more I think about it, the more appropriate it seems to be.

The sun is like my mom. Full of energy and light.

The moon is like the ALS that now is trying to shut that light down.

The ALS may be here but it can not fully cover up that "Ring of Fire" that I see from my mom.

Not yet, anyway.
