Day 2 - Beaver, UT - Conclusion

In the morning, there is a moment that completely touches my heart.

We are packing up and getting ready to leave Beaver behind. I'm focused on getting everything in the car and I see a housekeeper leaning up against the stairs.

She's a young girl. Latina. No more that 25 years old. I smile at her and say "good morning" and she returns the smile and the greeting.

We are ready to get my mom in the car. The housekeeper watching.

I'm able to get my mom all the way in without too much difficulty. Even the Russian Judge would have given me a 10. I pick up her legs and my mom is set.

I turn and make eye contact with the housekeeper.

"Your father?" she asks.

"No. Stepfather."

"Your mother?" she continues.

"Yes. That's that's my mom. We're driving around the country."

The housekeeper has her hand over her heart. She tells me that her English is no good but no language barrier can stop me from understanding what she is thinking. Her eyes say it all.
She sees a son taking care of his mother and she was truly touched.

"I wish my Spanish was better. It's no bueno."

The housekeeper smiles.

I go and get into the car and wish the housekeeper a magical day.

These are the moments that I am looking for on this trip.

I'm so happy I left three bucks on the nightstand for the housekeeper. She totally made my morning magical.
